Alycat And The Sunday Scaries is written by Alysson Foti Bourque and illustrated by Chiara Civati. For Alycat, Sunday was full of scary ideas, such as a pop quiz and rain on Monday. Her mom sent her outside to play with her friends so she wouldn’t worry so much about what the next day would bring. Alycat and her friends ran into a few problems. Kit was afraid of riding her new bike, Eleonor was at a lemonade stand with no sales, and Spotty was stuck in a tree. How much scarier could Sunday possibly be for a group of kittens? Will the Sunday Scaries make the rest of the week frightening, too?

Alycat And The Sunday Scaries is an adorable children’s story that will help kids find ways to make scary or unpleasant situations more manageable. I absolutely love the lessons in this story about the importance of facing fears and working together to reach a goal. The illustrations by Chiara Civati are beautiful, add fun and flair to the story, and will keep kids flipping pages. I recommend Alycat And The Sunday Scaries by Alysson Foti Bourque to young readers who enjoy an adventurous story that is entertaining and teaches valuable life lessons. I hope that Bourque has many more stories like this one about Alycat and her friends that will inspire kids not to be afraid of personal growth and teach them how to navigate their day in a positive way when an unforeseen problem comes along.
