Learning is not only fundamental, it's necessary and crucial in today's world. With technology and bullying at an all-time high, we need stimulating books that interest our children, while finding ways to protect themselves - boxing is the answer. Dmitriy Salita has taken his love of boxing with a mixture of storytelling by Michael Salita, along with a flavor of colorful illustrations by Elena Stekacheva, to create B Is for Boxing. Children will not only learn a lot about the boxing industry as they read this book, but they will be able to view it as a children’s boxing dictionary.

Dmitriy and Michael are not new to boxing and education and they have invited their friends, former boxing champion George Foreman and Boxing Hall of Fame publicist, Bill Caplan, along for the ride. Dmitry is a former number one World Welterweight Champion contender and his brother, Michael, is a teacher that works with special needs children. Children will learn boxing terms and meanings of words like weigh-in, decision, lightweight, welterweight, Golden Gloves and unanimous decision. Children will enjoy reading about boxing and the boxing industry as they learn.

I saw this book as not only a great resource for children and parents to read together. With comments by the great former boxing champion, George Foreman, and Boxing Hall of Fame publicist, Bill Caplan, their support provided the book with a more well-rounded appeal. This book left no stone unturned as it touched on the various terms, accompanied by beautiful illustrations of the boxing world. This is a book that must be added to every children's library.
