Battle to Save the Bay is an environmental drama novel by Ron Chandler. Recently graduated from high school, Donna Burgess joins the Chesapeake Bay Coalition, which aims to stop the pollution and environmental decay of the Baltimore harbor due to the dumping of excessive waste by the mega-conglomerate, Glendale Corporation. But things don't go according to plan. Despite the fierce protests and acts against Glendale Corporation, the Coalition struggles to stop them from continuing to cause damage to the harbor. Now, with the potential passing of the Glendale Corporation bill, the situation is even direr. Meanwhile, Donna is madly in love with her sister's boyfriend, Tony. When she is falsely accused of leaking confidential information, she feels her days as an environmental activist are done. Can Donna pull herself back together and help save the harbor?

A gripping socio-political drama filled with intrigue and suspense, Battle to Save the Bay is a must-read for anyone interested in environmental conservation. Author Ron Chandler sheds light on an increasingly relevant issue; the impact of powerful companies and their industries on their surrounding ecosystem and environment. Chandler's story mirrors some actual events happening in the real world right now. The pacing is deliberately slow, and the narrative takes its time to immerse the reader in the story and the characters. Donna is a flawed protagonist, which only makes her feel all the more realistic. You find yourself rooting for her almost from the get-go. I thoroughly enjoyed Battle to Save the Bay and highly recommend it.
