Beyond Color: Will This Day Be My Last? is a work of non-fiction in the memoir and biographical sub-genres, and was penned by author DJ Jordan. In this harrowing and heartfelt real-life story, we learn about the incredible and heart-breaking experiences of the life of the author, Master Sergeant Douglas Jordan. This Air Force hero has his life turned upside with a devastating diagnosis of cirrhosis of the liver and the realization that only a transplant can save his life. As we go through the stages of his deterioration, DJ tells of the deep psychological battle that he fought alongside his physical struggles. What results is an incredible story of fighting for one’s life.

Author DJ Jordan has crafted a truly incredible work of non-fiction which takes us into the raw truth of the experience of one’s life being slowly eroded by a devastating disease. The narrative quality of the work holds nothing back, and it is a testament to the author’s bravery and sensitivity that we are permitted so come so close to the experience. One of the things which I found really incredible about the work was the spirit of positivity and endurance that runs through it, which will certainly bring a tear to the eye of anyone reading it, and those who have been through similar experiences. Overall, I would highly recommend Beyond Color: Will This Day Be My Last? to readers who want heartfelt memoirs with highly accomplished writing and honest, inspirational messages.
