In her enlightening and empowering work, Broken Lenses Volume 3: Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin, Emily Bernath examines God’s nature, encouraging her audience to seek the freedom and hope that can only be found in him. As a survivor of sexual assault, Bernath longed for compassion and mercy and looked to friends to fill the growing void in her. Her friends, however, failed to understand her suffering. The assault led her down a dark path of hopelessness and seclusion. She discusses how her relationship with God helped her change course and discover his never-ending love and mercy. She examines other attributes of God, including his holiness and miraculous power. Bernath encourages others to discover the freedom she experienced in him and believe that he loves them.

This is a remarkable work with invaluable insight about healing and finding hope after a traumatizing, devastating experience. Bernath writes with authenticity and her writing is graceful and accessible to any reader. I loved that each section included questions for reflection and encouraging prayers that made the discussions interactive and easier to apply. The explanations offered are hopeful and compelling. I loved that each term used is defined and scriptures are offered for further reading. I also found the book’s tone conversational and uplifting. Emily Bertnath acknowledges the struggles people face, especially those who are sexual assault survivors, and offers hope through faith in God. Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin is a powerful work with uplifting, practical lessons and eye-opening, fundamental discussions concerning God’s character and attributes.

Broken Lenses Volume 3: Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin is the final volume in Emily Bernath’s three-part biblical devotional series. Bernath shares her testimony in twelve chapters as she relates God’s influence over her life. Through the words and teachings of Jesus Christ, the author gives clear examples of God’s loving nature as she breaks down the verses from the New International Version (NIV) Bible. Definitions address the focus of each chapter and help clarify the material. Prayers close each chapter after parts of Bernath’s personal story, scripture, discussion of the scripture and how it applied to her life, and questions for consideration and reflection are delivered.

A beautiful story of healing and personal and spiritual growth, Emily Bernath’s testimony will appeal to readers from wherever they are on their spiritual journey. The book can be read daily, but its structure begs for careful consideration of the material and allows readers to absorb the text at their own pace. As a rape survivor, the author speaks from the heart, conveying Jesus-centered lessons with an intimate account of her experiences. It’s easy to see that Bernath was called to write, as she easily produces prayers for readers to use if they have difficulty with certain areas and/or phrasing requests to God. As a lovely gift of gratitude, a free e-book edition is available to you or a friend with the purchase of this book. Broken Lenses Volume 3 is a great selection for readers who have had a similar experience as the author or who enjoy reading uplifting devotionals and testimonials.

Broken Lenses Volume 3: Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin by Emily Bernath is an inspirational, eye-opening book that powerfully affirms the presence of God in a world that is broken and hurt in many ways. How can God allow so much pain and evil to exist in the world? How does He allow the innocent to suffer while those who perpetrate evil go unpunished? These are questions that many people have asked, and questions I have asked as well. In this testament of God's love, Bernath offers reflections that lead readers into the heart of God — merciful, marvelous, kind, just, true, and more. Readers will find more than answers to the questions that have troubled the human spirit; questions about the benevolence of God and the evil that stares perpetually at the human face.

The author demonstrates that God exists and explains why He is worth knowing. Broken Lenses examines the mystery of God's love and His inscrutable nature while providing readers with tools to deepen their knowledge, understanding, and love of God. The book is sprinkled with insightful and eye-opening biblical passages. There couldn’t be a better way of exploring God’s nature in a manner that resonates with average readers than making the journey with Bernath. Emily Bernath communicates with clarity, writes in prose that is elegant, and presents ideas in a way that allows readers an easy understanding of the subject. What is most beautiful about this book are the questions for reflection, accompanied by biblical passages. This book is more than informative; it is an invitation to take the journey to the Heart of God. It is interactive and readers are compelled to meditate on God's word and how it reflects on their personal lives. This book is, indeed, a little treasure for seekers of God and those who want to embark on a deep spiritual odyssey. The author allows God to speak to readers through His word while providing insights and commentaries that are refreshing.

Broken Lenses Volume 3: Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin is a self-help guide and spiritual memoir by Emily Bernath. The author narrates how God healed her after experiencing sexual assault, depression, and alcohol abuse to ease her pain. She talks about His presence in decisions affecting her education, career, friendships, relocation, and her calling to be a writer and work in the women's ministry. Through her journey, she got to know God, have a relationship with Him, and build a ministry that helps fellow survivors. In this book, she discusses God's nature, the difference between God’s ways and our ways, and how all this applies to us. The author talks about how God is merciful, kind, and just to everyone, His marvelous, sovereign nature, and many more aspects of who God is.

Experiencing God's Freedom in a World of Sin is an enlightening and well-researched book that highlights the characteristics of God. Each chapter covers one characteristic and breaks it down into its synonyms. Emily Bernath gives definitions and Bible verses for each word explaining God’s divine nature. She uses her story to explain how God’s unmerited favor, guidance, and protection manifested in her life. Her writing is engaging and easy to follow because she has added questions after every lesson and does not use complicated words or concepts. I applaud her honesty and vulnerability because they made the book authentic and showed her sincere personality. I loved the beautiful book cover and how it relates to freedom. The bird set free from the cage appears throughout the book and aligns perfectly with its message, and the prayers at the end of every chapter are uplifting. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to know God and how He operates in our lives.
