As Chaos In The Blink Of An Eye Part Three: The Unveiling by Patrick Higgins begins, over a billion people – true Christian believers and all children up to age seven – have been raptured, vanished from the face of the earth. The mass vanishings leave world leaders trying to figure out how to rebuild their traumatized societies and leave ordinary people trying to figure out how to put their lives back together without children and other family members. In the midst of the chaos, a young lawyer from Spain vaults onto the world stage promising hope and world peace. He is cheered by the masses wherever he goes. That is, by everyone except people like the U.S. President Jefferson Danforth who senses something isn’t quite right, and by the new believers who have found Christ even in the absence of all the Christians who disappeared.
The story alternates between chapters of international intrigue with the rise of Salvador Romanero and soul searching by the more ordinary characters in the book. It has become clear to almost everyone that only Christians vanished and so it is not easy for those left behind to find the answers they crave, but there are some who understand well enough to help. I found the ordinary people searching for the truth to be completely believable. Patrick Higgins spends a lot of time in Part Three explaining doctrine, including the meaning of various biblical end time prophecies, which I found to be very helpful. I appreciated these parts of Chaos, even though it slowed the action to include them. Some points of doctrine might be controversial, but I think Higgins presents a challenge to both believers and nonbelievers to confirm they are sure of what they believe. Highly recommended for Christians and those who are searching. Read this compelling series in order, beginning with Chaos In The Blink Of An Eye Part One.
