Imagine meeting every one of your heroes, from different generations, and having a chance to interview them. In Chipping Through Time by David C. Schultz, the protagonist is privileged to talk to some great historical figures from different professions and question them about their achievements and the circumstances surrounding them. You will meet legends like Beethoven and some powerful leaders—including Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and the first female Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The different encounters have something in common: golf, whether it's conversations on golf courses or tips about the relaxing sport. The themes explored in the book are diverse: politics, slavery, racism, sexism, communism, the future of technology, journalism, mental disorder, music, and much more.

One reason why fiction is awesome is that it helps us fully play out our fantasies. Not only did Chipping Through Time show me what it would be like to meet some notable historical figures, but it also immersed me in different times, events and environments. Plus, David C. Schultz describes the scenes and characters so vividly that they seemed to come to life. As a musician myself, I especially loved reading about the differences music pioneers like Beethoven and Bud Powell made despite their health problems. Ultimately, Chipping Through Time depicts the ripple effects that individuals with a strong sense of justice and artists who strive to perfect their art can create—an important lesson for any generation. History lovers and golf enthusiasts would enjoy this creative and educational journey through time.
