Author Biography

Growing up, Cassie Sanchez always wanted superpowers and to be a warrior princess fighting alongside unlikely heroes. Suffice it to say, she lost herself in books, from fantasy to sci-fi to a suspenseful romance. Currently, Cassie lives in the southwest with her husband, Louie, while pestering her two adult men-children. She can usually be found drinking too much coffee while working in her office with her dogs, Gunner and Bullet, warming her feet. When she isn’t writing about magic and sword fights, she enjoys golf, spending time with friends, or partaking in a satisfying nap. You can visit her online at cassiesanchez.com.

Conquering the Darkness is a work of fiction in the fantasy, adventure, and interpersonal drama subgenres, and it is the final part of The Darkness Trilogy. The work is best suited to mature readers and contains moderate fantasy combat and sexual situations. Penned by author Cassie Sanchez, we follow the exploits of our protagonist, Jasce Farone, who finds himself in the frozen realm of Balten, stripped of his magic and memories. Haunted by an elusive woman and the specter of revenge, Jasce attempts to reconcile his past and the man he's expected to be. As Jasce races to secure the Stones of the Heart of Pandaren, he must confront both external threats and the demons within himself.

Author Cassie Sanchez knows how to craft a story that feels complete on all levels, from its deep emotional journey to the big-picture danger threatening to engulf the whole darkly imaginative world that the author has created. The novel seamlessly weaves together elements of fantasy and adventure with a keen sense of introspection, and it’s this realism that grounds us in the story, no matter how fantastical the events around Jasce are. As readers, we witness Jasce's transformation and growth, making his triumphs and failures feel profoundly personal, and there are so many relatable moments in his attitude to hardship and struggle, perfectly conveyed with dialogue and narrative presentation. Sanchez's storytelling prowess shines through, leaving readers both satisfied with the resolution and contemplative about the enduring battle within us all. Overall, Conquering the Darkness is a fitting conclusion to a trilogy that delves into the complexities of the human spirit while delivering an enchanting fantasy narrative.
