In Crushing on the Rock Star by Darci Doll, you will get to know Birdie Frost, a girl I can best describe as 'vanilla.' Birdie graduated college top of her class with the dream of making amazing documentaries that would rock the Public Broadcasting world. She secured an internship that she poured her heart and soul into for two years, and finally had her opportunity to present her dream project. She was given a detour when she found out the production company wanted to start appealing to younger audiences, and she was given the opportunity to produce a documentary on a rock band.

Birdie isn't exactly thrilled, as a) seriously...how will a rock band change the world, and b) it will have her going out to LA just weeks before her wedding. She takes a chance, something she has NEVER done in her life, goes against her fiance's wishes, and straight into the arms of a rock star who challenges her personal bias against rock and roll. In the end, will Birdie play it safe for the rest of her life, marry the man who believes she should be barefoot and pregnant, or will she figure out who she should have been all along?

Crushing on the Rock Star will have you feeling the confusion and joy of that first true love as if you were reliving it yourself. Darci Doll created a sweet romance that has everything a romance should: love, intrigue, confusion, hurt, joy, elation. There are no scenes that you would feel uncomfortable having your grandmother read, and the story doesn't need them. I felt like I'd made a new friend in Birdie, and was sorry when the story ended, because I wanted to hang out with her more. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
