Delano in Hollyhook by Cameron Glenn is a young adult fantasy about the life of an orphan, Delano Farnsworth. Delano begged his uncle to tell him more about his parents, and one day Uncle Ted promised to tell Delano the truth. That day at school, a red metallic wasp stung him on the neck and made him feel sick and dizzy. When he arrived home, the bathroom mirror was replaced by a video screen that offered Delano a trip to a misfit camp. With Uncle Ted nowhere to be found, Delano arrives at this strange and magical summer camp, but quickly learns that there is a lot he doesn't know about the camp's true purpose. With the help of his new found friends, Delano sets out to unravel the mystery of his missing uncle and finally discover the truth about his parents.

This story is full of really cool events and exciting moments within the camp and the story itself. Readers are on a similar journey with Delano to discover the true mystery about Hollyhook. Being kept in the dark is a nice little twist that readers will enjoy, so that they are learning about the camp at the same time the characters are. I enjoyed the array of characters at camp, from quirky Jackie to lonely Wheeze and even the dour Lenore. The mystery was well written, the intrigue was there on every page, and readers won't be able to turn the pages fast enough to get to the final answers they crave.
