Get a healthy dose of paranormal romance drama with Eileen Sheehan's Dream Love. Twenty-four-year-old Gertie Hitchcock has been having sexual dreams about an irresistibly handsome man for quite some time now. Gertie, a software designer for a gaming company, inadvertently stumbles upon the man of her dreams at an Irish pub in Queens, New York. Soon, Gertie's life turns upside down as she is torn between the affections of two extraordinary men whose lineage is out of this world. The men, Marcus Talbot and his half-brother, Joshua, are royalty among the alien diaspora in North America. Additionally, Gertie learns about her family history and is attacked by a dark beast from the inner earth, which incapacitates her for weeks. With a surprise coming her way, who will Gertie choose as her soulmate?

Author Eileen Sheehan crafts a deliciously steamy romance tale with a tinge of the paranormal. Readers of books like Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series or The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith will find much to love about Dream Love. The plot revolves around the love triangle between Gertie, Marcus, and Joshua, with supernatural events in the background. These three characters have a complex relationship. I was particularly impressed by how Sheehan managed the dynamics between the main characters, both equally strong and compelling yet different. While Marcus offers Gertie love, safety, and warmth, Joshua thrills her in ways she can't deny him. All in all, Dream Love is a book tailor-made for paranormal romance lovers.

A fortuitous meeting at the funeral of an old friend serves as the catalyst of an unforgettable adventure for Gertrude Hitchcock. Marc is tall, handsome, and the epitome of every woman's perfect man, but that is not what draws her to this mysterious stranger. Gertie is certain they have met before as she recalls his recurring presence in her dreams. She knows this mystery man holds some importance to her, but what she's unaware of is her growing affection for Marc could propel her into the middle of an existential battle for survival. Will she trust the logic and walk away from him, or will her heart win over her senses as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at true love beckons in Eileen Sheehan's Dream Love?

Eileen Sheehan's science fiction-oriented romantic story combines elements of both genres to create a riveting romantic tale. With a storyline that has a somewhat familiar feel to it along the lines of The Twilight Saga, Sheehan goes one better by differentiating her offering with some well-worked origin stories. Dream Love is a far more believable version compared to its contemporaries, with her use of some impressive character creation complemented by some of their curious titles. The story's subplots span sibling rivalries and otherworldly battles intricately put together with great attention to detail, giving it a realistic edge. Sheehan's Dream Love holds its own admirably well with every chance of developing a respectable following.

Dream Love by Eileen Sheehan sees Gertrude 'Gertie' Hitchcock in an awkward situation between two men. One was the man of her dreams, literally, and the other was a handsome stranger who whisked her away and claimed to love her. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Will Gertie choose the man of her dreams or will Joshua beat him for the place in her heart?

When I read the synopsis for this book I knew I would love it but reading Dream Love reaffirmed that Eileen Sheehan is on my list of favorite authors. To start with, who wouldn’t want the man of their dreams to show up in real life and, even better, have him whisk you away after a tragedy? The entire premise of this story screamed guilty pleasure read but it offered so much more. Gertie was such a personable character. Having been an awkward wallflower in her teens, she worked hard and put in the work to better herself. This makes her so much more endearing as she still has her insecurities and we see how her personality shines during major events in the novel.

Sheehan also has such a wonderful writing style, giving us just the right amount of environmental details to build a picture of the scenery while staying focused on the characters. You can’t help but become immersed in the story and I quickly found myself becoming attached to Gertie and Marc. This romance is well worth the read and I look forward to many more of Sheehan’s books.
