Faded: The Flicker Effect Book 3 by Melanie Hooyenga continues the story of Biz Clement, a teenager who jumps back in time 24 hours when the light strobes just right. An accidental flicker nearly kills her best friend, and Biz gets in serious trouble with the law. Also, because of the severe and terminal medical conditions this ability has caused in her father, Biz confided in a young neurosurgeon at the hospital named Martinez, who has promised to do everything he can to save her life. But something seems very off in the requests the young doctor is making of Biz, especially in his insistence that she repeatedly film herself going back in time. Is the doctor committed to saving her life, or is there something more sinister in his interest in her?

Faded: The Flicker Effect Book 3 by Melanie Hooyenga is a gripping and satisfying conclusion to this series. It was easy to invest in the concerns and cares of the main character. Biz was likable and relatable. As the plot developed, I found myself second-guessing who was behind the mysterious emails, whether Biz was going to reconnect with her lost love, and what would happen to her mother now that her dad was gone. The introduction of new supporting characters like Quinn and Trace helped carry the action forward, and their character development gave the whole story a more rounded feel. I found the action gripping, and the dialog believable. The stakes were quite high, and my only disappointment is that the journey with Biz is over. Some series decline in quality with each successive book, but this one only got better!
