Whether seeking a job, working at a child or adult care facility, looking for a place to rent, or even considering becoming a part of a reality TV show, background checks are now the norm. While background checks are part of the process, the irony is that some of the results are abnormal or false. It is unfortunate that some people who have a clean record and would normally be considered great candidates are denied and those who should be denied are approved. How does this happen? Has this happened to you or someone you know? This great book that exposes the ins and outs of how and why this happens is centered around the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Hank Balevic is not an attorney. However, his knowledge in creating Faulty Background Checks: Shatter Applicant's Lives While Harming Businesses comes from being a former FBI agent, the president of a background company, other resources, and the testimonies of many. A defective background check not only causes harm to the business, child or adult care facility, landlord, or TV show but the applicant's life is greatly impacted in several negative and harmful ways. If you’ve been harmed or denied as an applicant, there are resources and ways that you can clear your name and profile and get back on the right track.

Working for the government or high-profile positions requires various levels of background checks, just like obtaining a credit check, but it doesn’t draw an accurate picture of the applicant. Hank Balevic's Faulty Background Checks gives everyone a better understanding of where the fault lies. To see so many testimonies and lawsuits against several major corporations from Publix, McDonald's, and Allegis Group to Wells Fargo, which utilizes several online background check resource systems, is truly eye-opening. Not only is this book eye-opening but discovering that lives have been destroyed due to erroneous background checks is surreal. Getting a copy of this book will educate you on how mistakes are made, the importance of requesting a copy of the report, and ways to develop a clean slate for yourself. Remember, background checks are being requested for most things and it is important to know and understand how it will influence and impact your life and its future. Highly recommended.
