In Gifted, a gripping thriller by EV Whyte, all new assignments to Detectives Bev Wuthers and Scott Pinkerton had been stopped until they had new leads on the Spruce Rock murder case. As a last resort to finding any clues, Bev and Scott had an appointment with Hannah Harper, a spiritual consultant. Hannah had a traumatic past and a phobia of edges, but her psychic readings and visions were almost always accurate. Hannah led Bev and Scott to the killer after they made their initial trip to the most recent victim's husband. But Hannah was left exposed as the next victim by the killer's obsession with her. With the assistance of undercover cop Ned Sanders, Bev and Hannah raced against time to gather evidence and apprehend the killer before Hannah could become his next victim.

Gifted by EV Whyte was complex and intriguing. It was a roller coaster ride of suspense, murder, and supernatural forces. The story had me hooked from the first page until the very end. It was a page-turner and jam-packed with action. There was never a dull moment and it was hard to put this book down. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next and was guessing until the end. The characters were genuine and relatable, and I was drawn into their world. Hannah had inner issues but also had a resilience that made her able to face obstacles head-on. She was an engaging and unforgettable character because of her complexity. It was a pleasure to read this wonderfully written story.
