Life, loss, beauty, and passion are all part of the world that we live in. Feel and see the essence of these emotions through the eyes of the author, Curtis Shalo, in Gild the Lily. Explore these short stories that will touch your mind, pull at your heartstrings, and invite you to become a part of the story. Curtis pulls you in immediately within the first pages. As you read each story, you are so captivated that at its end you're either left spellbound, emotional, or in tears. The reader will see that just like in life things do not always happen as we imagine. This book is ideal especially during this time of sheltering in place. This type of book is a must to curl up with, grab your favorite beverage, and get ready to vicariously embrace and walk through the lives of the characters.

Words cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. Curtis Shalo did an excellent job of telling each story in such a small space of time. Nothing was wasted. Within the storytelling, all the parts from the storylines and emotions to the outcomes were profoundly captured. While there was much to choose from, my favorites were under the Gild the Lily Series: Travis’s, Elizabeth’s, Geoffrey’s, and Sierra’s Stories. Just like Curtis, you may have a story to tell as well. We each have a story or two within us to tell and share with others that may be intriguing to them. It's these words of wisdom that Curtis left for his grandchildren that may speak to you as well: "...Never stop telling a story and never stop listening to one…and occasionally take some time and write one down...." If you like this book, the author has others that you may enjoy as well. Highly recommended.
