Holiday Kisses is an anthology published by P.L. Harris that features ten modern romance stories by Australian authors Lauren Loos, Lexi Haven, D. D. Line, Jacinta Peachey, Sioban Timmer, Sharyn Swanepoel, Ashlyn Brady, P.L. Harris, Carolyn Wren, and Jenny Lynch. While they all offer something unique, I have three favorites. Slow Train to Edinburgh by Jacinta Peachey adds suspense when a protagonist steals politically sensitive files from a government office in London and flees by train. En route to Scotland, she meets a mysterious childhood friend who claims he can help her. This one begs for a sequel. Fairies, Lights and Mistletoe by Lexi Haven introduces a helpful, handsome firefighter who is also a devoted dad and great at rescuing people on ladders. Kissing in a Winter Wonderland by Lauren Loos has a wonderful ending that makes you believe in Christmas miracles.

In Holiday Kisses, P.L. Harris has given us an engaging and entertaining collection of clean romance stories that reflect the spirit of the Christmas season. While the settings, characters, and plots vary, each story has a Christmas connection. Several take place in colder climates where hot chocolate, warm fireplaces, and Santas on skis add to the seasonal spirit. A thread of happy endings runs throughout, although some have awkward beginnings or an occasional stumble. While the protagonists are beautiful, handsome, and good-hearted, they demonstrate emotional complexity, and the joyful romance theme is sometimes interwoven with elements of mystery, suspense, conflict, or grief at the loss of loved ones. A fun read.
