Infidel Wars is a work of fiction in the science fiction, Christian romance, and time travel adventure subgenres. It is suitable for the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Donna E. Lane. Readers are enveloped in an austere dystopian future governed by the Conglomerate, wherein the Social Protectorate meticulously controls beliefs. Genetically enhanced soldier Elora Felder and her captain, Danny Rohan, find themselves in a forbidden love that defies their roles. Facing capture and the erasure of dissenting beliefs, Elora seeks to rewrite destiny by navigating the intricate threads of time. Her journey involves traveling back to a time before Danny aligned with oppressive forces, hoping to persuade him to lead a rebellion and reclaim his beliefs.

Author Donna E. Lane has crafted an immersive and thought-provoking work that offers a captivating blend of science fiction, romance, and time travel, each in perfect balance. I was especially impressed with the worldbuilding, which offers a multi-layered viewpoint of this dark dystopian vista where you can clearly see how society has shaped the actions and attitudes of the characters on both sides of the divide. Lane intricately weaves a narrative that explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the pursuit of freedom, with plenty of realistic heartache and compelling dialogue exchanges. The characters' struggles against a totalitarian regime and their determination to rewrite their destinies create a gripping and emotionally resonant story with sharp narrative focus. Overall, Infidel Wars is a thrilling saga that not only entertains but also prompts reflection on the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of oppressive forces, and I would certainly recommend it for fans of both gritty dystopia and forbidden romance.

It’s the year 2106. The world is ruled by the Conglomerate that wants to abolish all faiths, and its tenets are enforced by the Social Protectorate (SP). Christians, known as followers, are dubbed criminally insane, and belief in God, known as One, is a sickness, a delusion that is infectious. Elora is a genetically modified soldier for the SP who has always believed everything said about the followers. She is tough and isn’t afraid to show it, with walls that don’t allow anyone in—until she meets Danny. Danny is one of the best captains in the SP and, right off the bat, is pulled to Elora. He knows it isn’t love. It can’t be since they’ve been taught that love doesn’t exist; it’s just chemical reactions in the brain. However, when Danny and Elora make new friends who tell them about some myths that are actually true, they start to question everything they know. Find out more in Infidel Wars by Donna E. Lane.

I loved Infidel Wars and I think Donna E. Lane is a brilliant writer. The book starts with enough suspense that pulls you in as you try to figure out the world. I could hardly put it down. My favorite character is Elora; she is such a tough cookie. I marveled at the lengths she was willing to go to protect her family and loved ones. I loved how she never gave up on Danny. I kept cheering for them; their love was beautiful and wholesome. Danny and Elora were the ultimate power couple; together, they really could accomplish anything. Infidel Wars is the perfect depiction of brilliant writing. The action and flying scenes were top-notch, and I had no problem visualizing these. I’ll definitely follow up with the rest of the series!

To escape her family, Elora, a genetically enhanced woman, decides to join the Conglomerate’s Social Protectorate (SP), a military group tasked to control people’s beliefs and erase their faith. She is placed under Captain Danny Rohan’s command, and the two form a bond that goes beyond the roles of subordinate and supervisor. They meet new friends who introduce them to the teachings of the One, and they start to question everything they know. They begin to wonder if there is more to life and their feelings. Elora and Danny are finally convinced when they have a near-death experience and are saved by a mysterious being they believe to be the One. Unfortunately, their faith is put to the test when the SP forces attack the rebellion and declare war. Elora and Danny are separated and have to journey through space and time to be together and fight a seemingly hopeless war. Grab a copy of Infidel Wars by Donna E. Infidel Wars is an action-packed, Christian, science fiction novel that will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. The book introduces readers to a cast of intriguing characters and a unique plot line. Donna E. Lane is a compelling writer who puts you in the main character's shoes and makes you feel their emotions. The story combines lessons about the Christian faith, advanced technology, and philosophical arguments about the true meaning of freedom. The book is well-thought-out because little details, like Elora fearing being caught celebrating Christmas or the way she used logic to interpret the parable of the prodigal son, showed the Conglomerate’s high level of manipulation and control over her life. I enjoyed her gradual development from a machine-like person to a sensitive and compassionate human. I also loved that she maintained her fearless attitude in the face of any danger. The story is told from multiple timelines, but it is easy to follow because the chapters indicate the year, month, and location. The story is unpredictable, and the ending is unexpected. I enjoyed reading this book and hope to read more from this creative and talented author. Great work.
