Jade And Peter’s Big Move by Jessica and Jade Rosato is a short children’s story that explains how kids feel when they learn they have to move to a new home. Jade and Peter discover that their parents feel just as nervous about moving as they do but the move is intended to make things easier so they can have more family time together. The kids learn they will be doing many of the things they already did, like playing soccer and practicing karate, as well as a lot of other new things they couldn’t do before. They like the idea of a big back yard, barbecues and having a pet but miss their friends and family back home. How will the kids keep in touch with friends and family they left behind? Will they fit in and have fun in their new home and community?
I recommend Jade And Peter’s Big Move by Jessica and Jade Rosato to anyone who has children. The plot easily describes the emotional strain kids feel when they move from one place to another. The characters have different personalities that kids can easily identify with. The illustrations by Samantha Fistere elaborate the story in beautiful, colorful detail. I absolutely love how the authors explained how the strain of moving affects the grown-ups as well as the kids so that children can understand that being a little nervous is perfectly normal. Jade And Peter’s Big Move is a wonderful story that will definitely be a children’s favorite for years to come.
