Letters To My Papa: A Personal Story of Hope, Grief, And Love by Ashley Hertzog Embry is the story of a daughter’s love for her father and how much he meant to her. Before I jump into the review and a little detail of the story, let me just tell you that this is beautiful. Simply beautiful! The book tells the story of Ashley Hertzog Embry and how she chooses to still keep her father in her life, even though he suffered a really bad brain injury. She was adamant about making sure he never missed a day in her life and so she started to write letters to him, making sure that when he got better, he would read these letters and cherish them as much as she does. The letters are beautiful and full of emotion; everything written in this book came from the heart.

The letters bring something new to readers. You get to live the turmoil with the writer, feel her pain, her joy, and her sadness. There are very few memoir writers who can make sure that their readers are hooked to their story and read till the end. Not many have the talent to write and make it unique, but Embry has that talent. She can go places with the way she writes. It is simple, attractive, and touching. Very good and very well written.

Excellent reading by a daughter who loves her Papa and family. The author takes you on a meaningful journey with so much love and emotion that I could feel the pages come to life. Our world is losing touch with things like empathy, caring and compassion. . That's what love is made of. I would hope that this book becomes one of the books that are required reading in High School to prepare students to live a real life with real joys, sorrows
and, family but still live to remember and retell the memories. Life is precious.
