Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! by Eddie Price is a children’s book about a young girl who never wears her shoes, hence her nickname. In the story, Little Miss Grubby Toes and her friend Tommy visit the park with their mothers. Together, they have a picnic and go on the slide but are quick to question if that is enough - they want to go to the pool. When their mothers tell them to wait a while because they can’t swim, they are faced with a critical decision whether to listen to their mothers or make their own decision about what’s best. Included in this book is a list of Eddie Price's other works, praise the author has received, and a special author note about the importance of learning from Little Miss Grubby Toes’ mistakes.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! is a beautifully drawn book that feels as if the illustrator sat down to sketch the entire book on the spot. It’s a masterful job of taking a difficult task and making it seem simple. The text is clean and easy to follow and the message is clear as crystal; if something doesn’t feel right, it usually isn’t. The story goes out of its way to target critical thinking by adding questions throughout the story, forcing the young reader to make responsible decisions first. Perhaps my favorite part of the book was after the story was finished where the author offers clues to Little Miss Grubby Toes' real name as well as a promise to reveal it after the next installment, Little Miss Grubby Toes Eats Too Much Candy. There is also a wonderful quiz with an answer guide and discussion questions at the end. Ultimately, Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! is a well-written and well-illustrated book that effectively communicates its message about pool safety and good choices in general. Any parents or grandparents would be wise to give this book a chance and see if their youngsters enjoyed it as much as I did.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! by Eddie Price is a 32-page long illustrated children’s book aimed at kids from about 3 years old and up. Miss Grubby Toes lacks important listening skills and it leads to trouble. Even a friend her age seems to have the same problem. At the end of the book is a vocabulary section along with questions for the young reader.

The major theme of the story is safety, and a book like this is appropriate for a strong-willed child. Some children listen to their parents and act more responsibly than others from the time they are little. Others seem to have a stubborn streak where enforcement of the rules is needed more often. This book is aimed at the latter. The dangers of drowning are repeated throughout the story, allowing the reader to sense what is at stake if they do not listen to the guidance provided. Although no children are hurt in the story, one comes close, giving it a feeling of reality.

I found the artwork to be filled with bright and charming colorful watercolor detail. Its attractiveness will bring readers back to it again and again. The end of the story describes how the parents and their little girl resolve the problem by teaching her to swim and learn the safety rules around the pool. Although the little girl is still strong-willed, she has hopefully learned her lesson and will be more careful the next time a parent gives instruction. Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! by Eddie Price emphasizes safety for kids and is highly recommended.

Little Miss Grubby Toes wants to go to the pool, but her mother tells her to wait for her and not to go alone. Her best friend, Tommy, wants to go without their parents anyway and asks her to come along. Should she follow him? Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! is the third book of the series by Eddie Price.

Brilliantly illustrated by Mark Wayne Adams, new readers will quickly find that safety is what this series is about. Eddie Price deftly broaches the subject in a way that parents, guardians, and teachers can discuss this important topic with children. I like the way Price further engages readers by asking direct questions such as, “Was this safe for them to do?” It’s not easy to make rules without spoiling the fun for the little ones. Some young readers and even adults may feel ambivalent about the way a safety subject is approached as real-life consequences are depicted in the story. However, it’s definitely a subject that should be discussed and I find Price deftly balances the sensitivity of the matter for kids to understand.

As with the previous books, another clue is given about our Little Miss Grubby Toes's real name. No doubt young readers who have been following this series have some serious guesses about the character's name as Price gives the third clue. All in all, Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! is another excellent and fun educational tale from Price.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! by Eddie Price is a short children’s storybook with a powerful message. Little Miss Grubby Toes is having a picnic at the park with her best friend, Tommy Sims, and their mums. When the picnic is over, the mums clean up, promising to take the children to the swimming pool. The children are told to wait and not to go to the pool by themselves but Tommy talks Little Miss Grubby Toes into going anyway. What kind of trouble can they get into? Little Miss Grubby Toes is always finding trouble and this time won’t be any different.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! by Eddie Price is a fun story, continuing the mishaps of Little Miss Grubby Toes, but with a serious message too. The illustrations are marvelous, full of color, and tell the story as well as the words. It’s written in a way that makes it easy to understand and there are several messages – never go swimming alone, especially when you can’t swim, always do as your mother tells you, and never ignore the warnings. Throughout the story, there are questions that make kids think about the consequences of certain actions. This is a great story, probably best read with the previous ones but easily read as a standalone story too. Eddie Price has a real talent here, not only turning out wonderful stories but talking directly to youngsters at the same time in a clear way that they can understand and relate to.

There are rules for a reason, but sometimes we don’t listen to the rules or we just don’t want to listen. Adults are just as bad as children in following rules. But most rules are there for a reason and that reason is safety. Never swim alone is an important rule. Even those who know how to swim well should follow that rule. Little Miss Grubby Toes has an important lesson to learn about water and swimming. After a picnic in the park with her best friend and their mothers, the two children want to go swimming. The mothers tell them to wait until they’ve loaded the picnic things in the car and then they will go together. Her mother says, “You must never go to the pool without me. You cannot swim yet, so if you fall in the water you could drown.” But the children are impatient and they go anyway. Guess what happens? Little Miss Grubby Toes has another valuable lesson to learn. Fortunately, this time she was lucky.

Little Miss Grubby Toes Falls in the Pool! is another one of Eddie Price’s valuable picture book stories aimed at teaching young people important lessons. His characters are realistic. A retired teacher, the author certainly knows about children. This story is written interactively, challenging the reader to answer questions like, “Should Little Miss Grubby Toes follow him?” and “Was this safe for them to do?” The author wants the young reader to convince the characters to make the right decisions, only, in failing to do so, the characters suffer the consequences. The illustrations are reflective of the actions and emotions of the characters and help move the story along. A great way to teach young readers the importance of rules and why they should listen when grownups tell them not to do something.
