Author Biography

Bonnie Rose Ward, an award-winning author celebrated for her vivid memoirs recounting life in the Alaskan wilderness, currently resides in West Virginia with her husband. Bonnie's homestead is nestled within the serene foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. The spirit of these mountains and her husband's familial tales from the region breathe life into her compelling narratives of Appalachian resilience, strength, and the quest for love.

Drawing from her fifteen-years in the wilderness, Bonnie's present lifestyle encapsulates the essence of self-sufficiency. Together with Samuel, she tends to a menagerie of goats, chickens, Zebu cattle, and other barnyard animals, while also cultivating their verdant gardens. When not immersed in her rural responsibilities, Bonnie transitions into her writer's persona. At her keyboard, she masterfully weaves new tales echoing the valor of women, the fidelity of men, and the extraordinary miracles that God orchestrates in their lives.

Bonnie Rose Ward said, "Drawing from my husband's old family stories and our shared experiences living a self-sufficient lifestyle, I felt inspired to create a series that pays tribute to the
rich Appalachian tales of struggles, strength, and faith-driven love. 'Loving Beth' is the first step in this journey."

In the hopeful historical romance novel, Loving Beth by Bonnie Rose Ward, tragedy precedes a joyous and beautiful ending. When she was just five months old, Beth McCullough’s father joins the Union war efforts. Beth’s mother manages to support herself and her daughter after his death. Mr. Penrose, a kind bank owner who fought alongside Beth’s father, allows her mother to pay whatever she can toward her farm’s mortgage. However, everything shifts suddenly after her mother fails to return home and is found dead by her neighbor, Jacob. Beth is left to pay up the mortgage alone which the bank owner’s son demands must be paid within a month. In addition, she discovers two neglected children who she struggles to help despite receiving frightening threats. Beth yearns for Jacob’s support but Jacob is determined not to love again.

This is a fantastic story with messages that inspire hope and which beautifully examines themes about redemption after tragedy and God’s mysterious ways. Set after the American Civil War, the story stays true to the era and explores the challenges many people faced after the war. It is told through the experiences of well-drawn characters whose strength and faith are inspiring. With masterful prose, it describes the challenges the characters face and includes riveting twists throughout the plot that kept me turning the pages. Blending unforgettable characters, a heart-warming love story, encouraging themes, and insightful lessons, Loving Beth by Bonnie Rose Ward is a wonderful novel that fans of Christian stories will enjoy. It is a novel whose lessons offer hope in a broken, uncertain world. Highly recommended.

Captivating. This should be a Hallmark movie.
