Will Spaulding, a former detective in Barstow, enlists in the army. Private Spaulding makes a grisly discovery in a train boxcar full of boxes of boots; the body of a dead woman! Special Agent Rudy Chemlin reassigns Spaulding to help him solve the murder of the woman from the boxcar. Even though Spaulding has been verbally painted as a dirty cop on the take, Chemlin and Spaulding head back to Barstow to investigate, which takes a turn for the worse when Rudy goes missing. Can they find out who killed the woman and find Rudy before he is murdered too? Can Will Spaulding find the evidence he needs to clear his name or will he forever be known as the wanted man, the dirty cop who went AWOL from the army? Will he return to the army to follow in his father’s footsteps or somehow return to Barstow’s Police Department as a detective?
I loved M-9 by Marvin J Wolf! The plot is deep and takes unexpected twists as Spaulding and his partner Rudy investigate the murder of the woman found in the boxcar of a train. The characters have unique personalities with their own background stories that make the main story flow smoothly. Wolf’s attention to detail makes M-9 a thrilling novel from beginning to end that I just could not stop reading. I recommend M-9 to anyone who loves an action-packed story full of murder, mystery, intrigue, and suspense.
