Malcontent: #Vampire #SerialKiller #Thriller is a work of fiction in the dark fantasy, suspense, and intrigue sub-genres, and was penned by author Emil Jersey. As the title suggests, this is a dark thriller work with plenty of fangs and bite, and therefore it is recommended for adult readers owing to the use of explicit language and the presence of violence and sexual scenes. In this standalone spinoff from The Rabbit Saga collection, we find Dr. Ruth Angleton running a practice to help others with her unique brand of psychotherapy. But when she meets Pitch, an ex-vampire turned mortal against his will, his presence unlocks a dark paranormal mystery that Ruth isn’t sure she wants to solve.

Author Emil Jersey breathes fresh life into the characters of the popular Rabbit Saga to bring us this concise and truly exciting murder mystery plot. Readers who enjoy the matchmaking between heroines with vulnerabilities and sharp edges alongside full-on bad boys forced into doing good will certainly fall for the tension and heat that Jersey creates between Ruth and Pitch. I felt that the dialogue of the work was a real standout because it delivers so much character, style, and smoothness to the dark fantasy world of the story. The mystery plot was tightly wound and extremely well-conceived, and the added layer of wondering if Pitch is actually the murderer adds a unique viewpoint that really amped up the thrills. Overall, I would certainly recommend Malcontent: #Vampire #SerialKiller #Thriller to fans of Jersey’s existing works, and those seeking an excellently crafted dark murder mystery.

Malcontent: #Vampire #SerialKiller #Thriller: The Rabbit Saga Collection is a dark paranormal mystery novel written by Emil Jersey. While a part of his Rabbit Saga series, Jersey gives enough background information for this novel to be read and enjoyed as a standalone. Ruth Angleton had been what was referred to as a “cow” for the Rakum, a race of vampires who shared this planet, before the event leading to their transformation into mortals. A transformation that had led to anger, rage, and violence as the former Rakum were forced to adapt or perish.

In her capacity as a psychotherapist, Ruth saw Rakum who needed help in dealing with anger management. There were a few other psychotherapists who also provided this service. One of them, Jenny, was Ruth’s mentor and inspiration. Heather was a fellow psychotherapist who had become friendly with Ruth through her chat room. They provided each other with support and feedback for what was often a challenging and sometimes perilous profession. Heather and Ruth had been concerned about Heather’s latest patient, referred to as Patient07, who was claiming to be the serial killer who had been torturing and killing women and leaving them with their tongues cut out. Fortunately, Patient07 had only been communicating with Heather online; there had been no direct interaction. Still, Ruth and Heather were concerned about her safety. Ruth’s newest patient, Pitch, was arrogant, controlling, and outright rude -- everything one would expect from a Rakum, but he seemed to have honed those qualities to a fine art which he used to shock her. Ruth was used to Rakum; her boyfriend was one. Pitch was a challenge, but she was determined to help him.

Emil Jersey’s Malcontent is a well-written and enthralling story that kept me happily engaged until I had finished the last page. The author’s Rakum brethren are fascinating to read about and his characters are strongly defined and authentic. I especially appreciated how the human Ruth goes up against and interacts with so many of the brothers throughout this story. Jersey’s plot is original and filled with unpredictable twists and turns, and his story works quite well. Malcontent is most highly recommended.

Malcontent by Emil Jersey is an urban fantasy that stands out in its originality and entertainment potential. This is a vampire thriller, a paranormal mystery, and romance, all rolled into one story. Women are being murdered brutally and Dr. Ruth Angleton fears the killer might be her patient. Pitch Bel was once a Rakum, descendant of an ancient vampire race, and now he has anger issues. When Pitch offers to help uncover the identity of the killer, Ruth is uncertain because Pitch is a killer at heart. Follow these two characters who gradually are attracted to each other while trying to stop a psychopath from murdering more women.

This is a beautiful story, and from the beginning, I was pulled in by the wonderful writing. The irreverent language greets the reader as they open the first page. The author’s gift for character is remarkable in this thriller. The characters are solid and multi-dimensional and I loved how the author writes their background. Dr. Ruth Angleton experienced incest and sexual abuse as a child and it is interesting that she has morphed into someone who is confident enough to help others reconcile with their past. Ruth and Pitch are gorgeous characters that take readers on a ride that is emotionally and psychologically engaging. Malcontent has a strong dose of humor and the quirkiness in the characters makes it a unique reading experience. I loved every bit of it.
