Mark is a work of fiction penned by author Cynthia Ulmer in the interpersonal drama and psychological thriller genres and is the fifth novel in The Cedar Cove Chronicles. The work is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Readers are invited to explore a plot that delves deep into deceit and manipulation as Mark Gideon's relentless pursuit of wealth leads him down a treacherous path, fueled by greed and a thirst for power, culminating in a web of lies that threatens to unravel and lead to his ultimate ruin. The author utilizes every ounce of imagination to craft a riveting reading experience filled with gripping suspense and intense drama.

I loved the various ways that dialogue and narrative were used to convey the different methods of deceit and manipulation at play, drawing readers into Mark Gideon's world of greed and power struggles with a mixture of subtle and overt machinations that all built up into a bigger, more terrifying picture. The intricate plot kept me on the edge of my seat as I followed Mark's descent into darkness and the consequences of his actions. I felt that the story was paced well to stay grounded in realism, even as the stakes got impossibly high. Cynthia Ulmer's vivid characterizations and intricate storytelling painted a clear picture of the characters' struggles and motivations, making it impossible to put the book down as I became invested in the journey. Overall, I would certainly recommend this novel and The Cedar Cove Chronicles in general to fans of intense dramas with plenty of thrills.
