Put on your cozy slippers and pour yourself a mug of cocoa. Sitting down to read Moments Like This by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha is like having a Hallmark movie in your hands. This is the first of a series based in Hawaii, and the cover art by Hang Le is lovely. A workaholic woman, Andie, is spurned on an expected promotion and ends up in the hospital after an alcohol-fueled fainting fit at a company function. Api, her best friend who lives in Hawaii, needs someone to run her coffee shop while she’s on a European trip with her new fiancé and invites Andie to Oahu. The Hawaiian breezes turn out to be just what Andie needs. Her adventures there are told in 46 chapters, each short enough to convince the reader to breeze through just one more, over and over again.

The opening scene of Moments Like This introduces readers to a panicky Andie as she endures a CT scan to ensure that her fainting and hitting her head has not resulted in an injury. We quickly catch up with Andie’s back story before author team Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha whisks us off to Oahu for some R&R. Andie learns about the coffee shop, and her nose for business draws her deeper into the culture and people around her, including a love interest, Warren, that she tries to keep from escalating due to her temporary arrangements in Oahu. As she learns about coffee plantations, Hawaiian topography, and the wonders of coastal sea life, so do we, and it’s an enchanting scenario. Yes, Warren and Andie will have their up and down moments, as romances do, but readers will be sorry to say aloha when the last page arrives. Next book in the series, please!

Moments Like This: From Kona With Love by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha tells the story of Andrea Matthews. Choosing career over marriage, Andie Matthews soon realizes she has made a mistake when a promotion she worked for slips through her fingers. Needing a break, she opts to help her friend run a coffee shop in Hawaii. Left alone with the shop, Andie soon makes friends with the staff and desperately wants to give the company a boost. On Christmas Eve she meets Warren Yates and, over a coffee, they get to know each other a little better. But who is Warren? When Andie finds out who he is and what he’s after, she is furious but can she put his deception behind her and follow her feelings?

Moments Like This: From Kona With Love by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha is a good-time, sweet romance story with a bit of tension thrown in for good measure. It's not just about ambitions, it’s about honesty and deception, trust and it's about not giving up or giving in. The setting for this story is wonderful and the descriptions transport you straight to it and draw you straight into Andie’s life. The authors have crafted this story well with wonderful characters and a compelling storyline. The plot is steady, there is enough action to keep you reading right to the end. This is the kind of clean romantic tale that easily fills a few hours on a rainy day; expect to be drawn right into it and lose track of time until it's all over.

Andie Matthews couldn't believe Nolan was chosen for the promotion over her. Working every waking hour, giving up family, love and marriage, everything, all for nothing. It just wasn't fair. So when she received a call from her friend to work in her coffee shop in Hawaii, Andie jumped at the chance. She finds life in Hawaii much calmer as she settles into working at the coffee shop. It is Christmas Eve when a stranger walks into the coffee shop, and the cup of coffee they share is the start of a whirlwind romance until she realizes who the real Warren Yates is. Moments Like This by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha will have you swooning, and wanting the sweet ending you are hoping for.

Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha put together a delightful and charming, sweet but somewhat edgy romance. I loved Andie from the start, but Warren took some time. The realistic characters develop so well and the story goes smoothly with little twists and turns that kept my interest. Moments Like This is the perfect title because of all the special moments Andie and Warren share throughout the story. I love the attraction they had from the beginning, and the passion they had for each other. Gomez and Polaha did a wonderful job vividly describing the different places on the island in a way that, after I finished the book, I felt like I had been there. I definitely know a lot more about Hawaii after reading this book. If you enjoy a good sweet romance with a beautiful setting, this one is for you. Can Warren fix his and Andie's relationship? Read the book for the answer to this and so much more. I highly recommend Moments Like This by Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha. I love Polaha as an actor, and now even more as an author.
