Mortal Conspiracy is a work of fiction in the medical thriller, suspense, and interpersonal drama sub-genres, and was penned by author Noel C. Scidmore, M.D. The central plot follows a dynamic physician in training, Dr. Brad Pierson, who fills out what seems to be a routine autopsy for a man who has passed away from a sudden heart attack. But when his report comes back with mysterious alterations, the ensuing questions lead Brad down a path that unveils a dark underbelly of conspiracy, government involvement, corruption, and even murder. So begins a harrowing investigation where Brad himself fears that he might be silenced before he can make the truth known to all.

Author Noel C. Scidmore, M.D. takes the medical thriller genre up a notch with this dark and highly entertaining take on conspiracy fiction. The real strength of the novel is in its plot, which is actioned with a wonderful sense of timing for how long the audience can speculate and be teased with clues before more information is revealed. The dialogue was used in a dynamic fashion for plot exposition, which made for some really exciting moments, and the kind of novel where you get hooked into every detail. I felt that Dr. Brad Pierson began the story as a typically naïve but optimistic figure, and this was a great basis for development as his mind shifts when he is shocked by the deepening web of intrigue and the danger all around him. Overall, I would certainly recommend Mortal Conspiracy to fans of medical thriller fiction everywhere.
