Author Biography

Sarah Bankuti is a childhood cancer mom, owner of a childhood cancer nonprofit and is the author of two children's book series -The Princess Lily Series (Currently 4 books with more to come) and The Princess Alannah Series (Out summer of 2024)

Sarah Bankuti started writing The Princess Lily Series when her daughter, Alice, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and would need many years of treatment. When Sarah and her husband looked for books to help her daughter with what she was going through they were disappointed at the lack of relatable books for her. Alice loves Princesses so it was natural for her main character to be a brave Princess in an enchanted world.

Princess Lily was created. Lily become very sick, travels to the enchanted forest to see the healers, starts chemotherapy, loses her hair and goes through what a lot of children with serious illnesses do, but in an enchanted world full of adventure. Cancer is not mentioned in these books so more children can relate to Princess Lily.

Sarah is a firm believer that children need to see themselves represented in the books they read and the media which is why she started writing these books.

Princess Lily Meets Zoah the Warrior is a children’s picture book written by Sarah Bankuti with illustrations by Kristina Dutton. It is the third book in The Princess Lily Series, and follows the story of Princess Lily, a girl who has just lost all her hair and hopes to find a hat. Instead, she meets a new friend, Zoah, a bald girl who lives in the Valley of the Warriors. Zoah’s mission is to help Lily embrace her strength and be brave and wise. Lily learns to overcome her fears and takes pride in fighting her illness. Finally, the pair have fun picking out silly hats, and Zoah gives Lily a bracelet that will always remind her that she is a warrior.

Princess Lily Meets Zoah the Warrior is a heart-warming story that raises awareness about cancer and teaches children to be strong and brave. Princess Lily feels weak and unworthy, but Zoah brings light into her life by pointing out what makes her unique and strong. This is a motivating message that many people need to hear today. We love to concentrate on the negatives and fail to see the positive parts of our lives, which can lead to depression and self-hate. Sarah Bankuti does a great job ofpresenting this message in a way that both children and adults can understand. Apart from the profound lesson, the book also contains colorful illustrations that perfectly depict the characters and correspond with the story. Get a copy of this book and bring light to others, just as Zoah did for Lily.
