Rexie Was Here: Finding My Family is written by Lisa Zupan and Dylan Alexander and illustrated by Giuseppe Musella. Rexie is a sweet dog who has been on his own for a while. He is in search of a home to call his own and travels around trying to find the perfect place for him to fit in. Along the way, he runs into people who don’t seem to want Rexie around. He makes his way from Naples, Italy, to Turin. What will happen to Rexie as he travels from place to place? Will he find more people that refuse to care about him? Will Rexie ever find happiness with a family that wants him to stay? Will he ever find his loving forever home?

Rexie Was Here is a wonderful story that is both sad and heartwarming at the same time. This story will inspire kids to care more about animals as they read how some people behaved when Rexie wanted food or attention. I love the way this story is projected from the perspective of the dog that is on its own, looking for happiness with a forever family. The illustrations by Giuseppe Musella are beautiful and will keep kids entertained as they discover what life is like for an animal searching for love. I recommend Rexie Was Here by Lisa Zupan and Dylan Alexander to youngsters who enjoy learning something new while reading about the lives led by adventurous animals who want nothing more than to settle down in their own yards.

"Rexie Was Here," a book written by Lisa Zupan and Dylan Alexander, is a story about one darling dog who is skeptical about living with an American family. They don't speak Italian, and he doesn't speak English! But love speaks louder than any language, and your children will resonate with Rexie as he acclimates to his new home. A sweet, sweet story about a beloved dog--your children will love Rexie!
