Sarah's Obsession by K.L. Frase follows a woman's search for a set of paintings done by a farmer centuries ago. It's 1787, and Dave, a farmer, welcomes a newborn calf named Little Cow to his farm. Dave's love for Little Cow was such that after its passing, he started to paint a series of portraits of the small beige cow with spots, which he later passed on to his eleven children. Centuries later, a young girl named Sarah became besotted with a portrait of Little Cow she found in an antique shop. As she grew up, she made it her life's mission to find and acquire all the remaining paintings by farmer Dave. By forming The Little Cow Collector's Group, she discovers how the portraits passed from Dave's children and survived over time.

Sarah's Obsession is a moving reminder of how great art can surpass lifetimes and influence many lives along the way. K.L. Frase ends the book on an optimistic note with a gentle message about hope and never giving up on pursuing one's dreams and passions. With little slice-of-life stories following the descendants and owners of Dave's paintings, the narrative covers a lot of ground, with interwoven tales of a large cast of characters who fill the canvas of this book. Sarah is the focal point around which all the other plot threads intersect. She is an inspirational protagonist with an almost dogged determination to reach her goals. Overall, this is a heartwarming book with a collection of short stories that come together perfectly. Highly recommended.
