Silver Light and the Red Canyon is a children's picture book by Nan C. Cataldi with illustrations by Thomas Rodriguez. Deep in the southwest mountains, a herd of wild horses finds a shiny, silver-white horse. The mysterious horse is named Silver Light, and he grows into a beautiful stallion. The other horses start rejecting him because he looks different and is bigger. Silver Light's days grazing far from the herd make him lonely and sad. One day, he has enough of the rejection and decides to embark on a journey to find other horses that look like him. Join Silver Light as he makes his way through the canyon in search of a family that will accept him.

I loved reading Silver Light and the Red Canyon because it has many lessons for children and adults. Nan C. Cataldi covers friendship, kindness, and acceptance themes in this magical tale about a lonely horse. The story is creative and will teach children to embrace each others' differences and help them understand that we are all unique and special. It also covers the topics of friendship and acceptance. Sometimes a simple hello is all a lonely person needs to brighten their day. Being kind and helping can change the tide for someone in need. Silver Light’s journey helped him find friendship and acceptance with the most unusual bunch of animals. This should remind us not only to embrace our family but to show care and humanity to strangers. It is an easy read with simple words that children will effortlessly understand. Finally, I loved the book’s colorful illustrations because they made it visually appealing and corresponded perfectly with the story. Great work.
