Something Wicked is a paranormal crime thriller written by Mandi Konesni. Jo Jordan has been newly partnered with Dimitri Theron - a Hereti Vampire in the Twilight Division of the Savannah Metro Police Department. Jo is no fan of Hereti, as her parents had been murdered by blood drinkers when Jo was a child. The new partners' first case together centers around Club Delirium, after the death of a Hereti who'd taken a new drug while on the streets. Working with both humans and Dimitri's father, Lucian Theron of the Vampire Council, a plan was formulated to round up and deal with the corrupt Hereti who make this horrific drug concoction and continue to feed on humans. After being taken prisoner by Caitlyn Mortas, owner of Club Delirium, Jo escapes and dies in Dimitri's arms before being revived by his supernatural blood. After all Caitlyn's lackeys are in vampire custody, Jo and Dimitri seek to end Caitlyn's reign personally ...and permanently.

Mandi Konesni has produced a doozy of a crime thriller, creating a world where humans and vampires co-exist peacefully. I very much enjoyed how Something Wicked was completely set up with a before and after of Jo's existence within the Twilight Division of the police force. Overcoming such inbuilt prejudices that come from the murder of our loved ones is so very near impossible. Such a tragic event most often leads to a person keeping the world at arm's length for a lifetime, but when somebody unique and trustworthy breaks down the barriers those affected have put in place, they truly are worth holding on to. Oddly enough, one of the unusual things about this novel is that it is the first time I have ever purchased something (burdock root) because of its mere mention in a novel. Much investigation on several websites deemed it a product that brings positively wonderful things to those suffering from diabetes. With so many different areas and scenarios brought about in Something Wicked, I wholeheartedly recommend it to all adult audiences. Keep an eye out for it in all good bookstores and libraries.
