South of Justice: Book 1 of the Compass Crimes Series by Joni M Fisher introduces the reader to veterinarian Terri Pinehurst. A successful 35-year-old who has achieved in almost every part of her life; financial, social and personal when it comes to friends. Only one thing she truly wants is missing and that is the big love you watch in movies and read about in books. Could she find that love with FBI agent Blake Clayton? She hopes so, but on the day they are set to start their lives together Blake is arrested after a missing neighbor's remains are found. Can Terri see beyond the evidence and find a way to save the love of her life?

One of my favorite things is digging into a new series, knowing I will get to spend more time with the characters in the future if I fall in love with them. Terri and Blake are well-written, fully realized characters that could be your neighbors. Of course, with a neighbor turning up dead and Blake looking like the one who committed the crime, you might not want them to be those neighbors. This book is well written and you can feel the time, effort and skill that author Joni M Fisher put into this story; it just leaps off the page. If you are someone who enjoys a fantastic plot and a crime tale that will make you wonder and keep you guessing until the end, trust me, you want to put this one on your TBR. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next book in this series.
