Angie has been in love with her Uncle Chris (they are not related by blood) for as long as she can remember. But everyone in the family watches and disapproves of their interactions so it took a long time for Angie to act on her feelings. She is now nineteen, and she will do everything in her power to seduce her uncle and make him see her as a woman, not the child she used to be. She got what she wanted and more. Her uncle imparted to her an understanding on why some things are the way they are. Chris taught Angie lessons about the Nectar of Immortality, the Celts, the Aryans, the ascending and descending age, zombies, the honey grove, and much more in The Almond and The Rose by Kelly Sebastina.

The Almond and The Rose is a unique story. I haven’t encountered a book quite like it before. Kelly Sebastina is a witty and humorous writer. The book was funny and it didn't seem very serious at all during the first part, but it tackled some issues in politics and gender equality. There were also some explanations about many things, including football, communism, and a lot of seemingly random stuff but they are all connected one way or another. While reading, the facts seem far-fetched but there were sources and bibliographies so I guess all are legit. There were also pictures. Although I didn't know why some of the pictures were included, nevertheless it made the reading experience fun.
