The Ant Thief: Bed Time Tales 2 by Gita V. Reddy is a children’s story about an ant named Noira. Noira has a problem with stealing things. One day Noira steals a magician’s cloth that makes her invisible when she wears it. She then attempts to steal honey from a beehive. Noira learns a serious lesson when she is finally caught.

I like that The Ant Thief teaches children not to steal. Children are never too young to be taught right from wrong. Noira got away with stealing so much for so long. The Queen Bee let her off easy in my opinion. I think that Noira should have been made to replace what she stole. I read this book with my 4-year-old. She liked that the main character was an ant, and was able to read most of the story by herself.

However the illustrations did not hold her attention for too long. I like that the art work is unique but perhaps if the images had a little more color in them they would keep a child’s interest in the story more. I also liked that Reddy hinted in the story that you should work hard to earn things. I do think that this a book children should read because of the important lesson in it.
