Accused of treason, Jaco, Delian the blacksmith, Lord Farizel a friend, and Telm a messenger from Elgur escape the city together. Evil Baron Kagarlak convinced King Alvard III to issue a warrant for their arrest. Meanwhile Kagarlak encourages General Traun that the King is a menace to the country. In a military coup the General banishes the King to the forest. The King does not have the skills to protect himself and is certain to perish. Jeco, Delian and Farizel rush to the king’s rescue despite the danger to themselves. Nine year old Princess Arvelian is thrust into power in her brother’s place. Her cleverness and shrewdness surprises those who wish to manipulate her.

This is the final installment of the Adventures of Jecosan Tarres trilogy. In book 3: The Battle, our hero Jeco has matured from orphan to scribe to the king. He perseveres in his mission to stop a war between Meoria and Tirgan.

The Battle is an incredible fantasy sure to keep readers turning pages to see what will happen next. While this book reads well alone I recommend reading the books in order. Author Laura Lond is a master at characterization. She took time to develop not only the main characters but the secondary ones. The main characters are multifaceted and come to life on the pages. There are several sub plots that create twists and turns. Lond cleverly mixes humor, conspiracy and adventure to create a plot that is sure to please fans of fantasy. There is a Christian message to this book but it is never preachy. For a quick read pick up a copy of The Battle.
