The Boy Who Found a Magic Wand by Elie N.R. is a magical tale of a young boy called Neo who finds a magic wand with his name etched on it. Neo already has a kind heart, and with this magic wand, he starts to do good deeds around his city, always going out at night morphed into the shape of cats, birds, and owls. Neo learns that sometimes magic is needed to do something special for someone in need, but other times, we can do nice things for people and animals by ourselves and that the magic lies in the deed. Neo carries the burden of this big secret and discovers that it is easier to bear by sharing that burden. With his trusty puppy Sparky, Neo shows readers that the most incredible magic is in helping others. This wholesome story teaches good values through beautiful descriptions that touch all our senses and focus on the beauty around us.

Elie N.R. has written a magical children’s story, weaving a sensory delight with colorful and vivid descriptions. The author creates a magical background by describing Neo’s surroundings using creative metaphors. This remarkable book will find a place in the hearts of children of all ages. I like that the author started each chapter with a paragraph that immediately engages the reader or listener. The book lends itself wonderfully to being read at bedtime. As each chapter ends at a natural pause in the narration, the story can be put down for the night. Beautiful sketches and digital images complement the story and add to its optimistic tone. The Boy Who Found a Magic Wand is a wonderful way to teach younger readers about the importance of friendship, acceptance, and heart-to-heart conversations.
