In The Cat That Couldn’t Meow by CP Clark, Jack is not like other cats. His meow sounds more like a moo. Other cats pick on Jack about the strange sounds he makes. Their comments and behavior hurt Jack’s feelings and make him wonder why he is different from everyone else. Jack’s mom attempts to reassure him, but Jack still doesn’t understand how his difference sets him apart from other cats. Mrs. Talleywack took Jack to the vet to find out if there was a medical reason that kept the cat from being able to meow. Would Jack ever learn to meow like a normal cat? Is there some reason that he sounds different? Is it fair for the other cats to pick on him because he makes a different sound? Will Jack ever find friends who accept him for who he is?

I absolutely love the message The Cat That Couldn’t Meow sends to kids about embracing their differences. This is a wonderful children’s story that will help kids learn to love and accept themselves even if their peers pick on them for being different. The characters make the plot of this story stand out in a relatable way that the young reader can learn from and enjoy. The illustrations add fun, flair, and energy to this creative story that kids will have a great time reading. I recommend The Cat That Couldn’t Meow by CP Clark to children who love stories that are fun and will help them learn something new.
