Lawrence loves it when his father reads him mythological stories and makes voices. Unfortunately, his father is not always home because he is in the army. Each night, Lawrence stares up at the stars, hoping for his father's safe return. One night, Lawrence sees a shooting star and wishes to be strong and brave like his father and the heroes in his favorite stories. Suddenly, the skies became dark, and a man stands in his window, shining a bright light into Lawrence’s room. Lawrence is startled but follows the man and discovers he is the conductor of a magical train. Each train car presents a new mission that lets Lawrence meet his heroes. Join Lawrence as he fights battles and learns to be strong in The Darkness Before the Dawn (Adventures into the Great Unknown) by Holden Russell.

Fun, adventure, and mystery; The Darkness Before the Dawn brings you all this and more. If you love reading mythological stories with a modern twist, you will love reading this book. The story aims to teach children about being strong, brave, and kind. Holden Russell is a creative and engaging writer who brings the characters to life with his detailed descriptions. He also added beautiful silhouette illustrations that corresponded perfectly with the story and helped me visualize the scenes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading fun adventure stories with a heartwarming message.
