Author Biography

Wayne M Sefton is a father of four and grandfather of nine. Working as a truck driver, when he's not rocking to his symphonic metal CD's, means he has plenty of time to dream up new stories and situations for existing characters. One day he may even concentrate on his driving, but where is the fun in that?

The Forgotten Age: Rise of the Druids by Wayne M Sefton is an epic tale that follows the quests and many battles of main characters Jason and Kelly through various locations, including English countrysides, hills, and forests. While the book focuses on the Druids, there are also trolls, elves, goblins, ogres, and otherworld creatures with their own unique personalities that add much to the story. In the beginning, Jason and Kelly, separate characters leading separate lives, come together after they experience similar strange “dreams” in which they are in different places. After that, their quest with the trolls begins. The Forgotten Age: Rise of the Druids is a highly imaginative tale, and while the pacing is a bit slow in the earlier stages of the novel, the story does pick up. Eventually, the reader is swept into another world with Jason, Kelly, their traveling partners, and the enemies they meet along the way.

The highlight of this book is the relationship between Jason and Kelly. Early on, they have a strong bond and connection, traveling together, training with the trolls, and finally falling in love. The stakes are high for them after that, each one worrying about the other, and Jason does struggle with protecting Kelly and sensing when she’s in danger. As a female reader, I appreciated that Kelly was feminine but also able to fend for herself with her bow. I especially liked that she could “call” to her bow and instantly receive it.

Outside of the romance, there are many action-packed scenes, including the snowstorm and Jason’s rage episodes, the suspenseful scenes with the ogre and with the wolves, and even with the dreaded spiders. Jason’s sense of humor was spot-on, and I appreciated his sarcastic edge. Overall, I enjoyed this imaginative tale and recommend the book to those who like fantasy and romance stories with some humor sprinkled here and there to lighten it all up.
