Novellas can be engaging, fun, and a simple way to tell the story in a screenplay format. In The Good Riddance Project: Occupational Hazard Book 1 by A.K. Lakelett, get ready for a story of suspense as you discover the perfect way to get rid of someone using project management skills. In order to be efficient as a project manager in planning this task, one must consider several phases. Some factors to include in the plan are naming the project, developing the project plan, creating a risk assessment, and not getting caught. As you dig deeper, you will discover that there is a plot to get rid of the main character's wife of four years. The name of the project is Mary, Good Riddance. What a name for a project and isn’t this a hefty plan to be undertaking? You may ask what happened for this type of fate to be considered and why after only four years of marriage. We never know what can push a person over the top.

As a professional project manager, I was intrigued by The Good Riddance Project, beginning with the title. I was curious how the aspects of project management would be utilized and intertwined into this mystery while achieving the specified goal. I was thrilled reading this book and seeing how the plot unfolded as everything was meticulously planned and thought through to fit the end results as intended. As I was reading, I began thinking about each project management phase required to carry out the task, from executing as soon as possible to minimum costs which was hilarious! A.K. Lakelett thought of everything for executing the perfect plan but plans don’t always turn out as we wish, even for an efficient, highly skilled project manager. The author cleverly created this mystery using project management methodology, a skill set that can be used in most fields from construction to IT. Highly recommended.
