The Lioness Diaries by Iris Champion is the story of a woman who never had an easy life, but she knew that stopping was not something she was meant to do. Savanna knew that she was a fighter, trying to live her life after a painful divorce, trying to raise her child with autism as best as she could while battling depression. She was fighting it all to the best of her abilities, but things went downhill when she realized that neither she nor her child was safe. Something strange was happening and some people wanted her dead. Help comes in the form of a man named Rune who says he is here to protect her, but there is something about him that just makes her stop and wonder. She wants to remember something but she has no idea what it is. Rune seems to be the key to it all, but the circumstances and the danger are distracting her. Will Savanna find out what is actually happening around her before it is too late?

Intense, full of action and led by a protagonist that commands your attention, this is a gem of a romance that is unlike any other in the genre. Savanna is a very sure-footed person, she knows what she is doing and she knows how she can make it work in her favor. She adapted very quickly, made the necessary changes and didn’t let herself be swept away. She is a warrior and a fighter, she did have Rune to help her but she didn’t let herself become the “little woman” in the relationship. She didn’t know she was capable of saving herself, but she tried her best. Her growth is tremendous, she adapted with the story and her progress was great. The relationship between her and Rune was simply beautiful; they held each other up and ensured that the other was safe. This is a brilliant start to a series that is bound to be a success. I can't wait for the next book.

"This book depicts a universal tale in the most creative multidimensional style. The inner and outer struggles of divorce, single parenthood, romance, and much more. This is a must read book; unlike any romance novel I have ever read."
