The Next Christians is a thorough and intense look at where Christianity has come from, where it is today and where it is going in the future. Unlike most books on this subject, Gabe Lyons has presented his view about the upcoming generation of Christians, the “next Christians”. These Christians, it is the author’s feeling, that they will be the ones who will bring our country back to a Christian nation.

This book is exceptionally well written and well researched. Mr. Lyons has presented how Christianity has changed over the past several generations. He does at times come across as being a bit harsh and judgmental of different “types” of Christians. My feeling about this is mixed. On the one hand, he convicts the reader to take a stand and not be ashamed to call him or herself a Christian. But on the other hand, it is important to acknowledge the fact that it take all kinds to reach different types of people.

So, while some of this book rubbed me the wrong way, I still found it challenging, educational and useful. It is a serious look at where the Christian faith is headed and how this new generation of next Christians is going to change the face of Christianity for the better.
