The Other Side of the Ridge by Larry Deibert is an intriguing historical fiction novel, introducing readers to scientific and educational concepts of time travel and historical facts. The idea of time travel, as well as information on the United States' history, are a few of the most engaging topics for readers. Larry Deibert captures his readers' attention with a tight grip as the idea of time travel to the Civil War era is revealed.

The author fills up his readers' imaginative fuel tank as their eyes lock onto every word of this exciting, adventurous, informational, emotional, historical page-turner. The author educates readers on historical facts by presenting a character during a documented event in the past, and allowing the story line to be filled with facts about that specific event. To travel back in time is one exciting thing to think about, but to travel back in time to an era of much bloodshed and lost lives is an amazing and incredible situation to imagine. The author's story plot is fantastic. I was very pleased with the concept of this book, as well as all the historical knowledge obtained while reading each chapter.
