The Principal's Son by Roderick J. Robison is about Peter Brantwill, a shy kid. When Peter's father becomes the principal of Birch Ridge Elementary School where he is studying, his world turns topsy-turvy. He finds himself the center of a lot of unwanted attention. He is grouped with a troublesome boy, Darren Kalder, for a homework assignment. Before the presentation, Darren backs out and leaves Peter to make the presentation all by himself.

I have read Middle Class Millionaires by the same author and I enjoyed the story thoroughly. His stories where the school and school-related incidents are the backdrop will appeal to children. This book has the theme of bullying running through it. The character of Darren Kalder has been pictured well by the author before starting the book. His annoying behavior and his bullying nature form a major part of the story.

Peter Brantwill is again one of the guys you will see in your own school. His character is etched that way -- introverted, quiet, and always shying away from public eye. The integrity of his character is shown when Darren backs out of the assignment. Peter's decision to move ahead with the project boldly is a kind of motivation for any child.

The author has written a story highlighting the problems that certain children face in the school. The plus point is how they rise above it and decide to change forever. The book has a very positive feel to it which makes it a winner all the way.
