The yacht Sirene is found sailing aimlessly and without anyone on board near the coast of Baja. Its owner, Morgan Hunter of Hunter Steamships, hired a group of experts to search for his son, Bryant Hunter, who was one of the missing passengers of Sirene - Dr. Isaac Neumann, a marine biologist; Dr. Stephen Minter, a physicist; journalist of Isis magazine Kristin Ewell, and Scott ‘Duke’ Duquesne, an expert diver. The Search for Bryant Hunter is an exciting sci-fi thriller by Stan Smith.

I wasn't sure what to expect at first when I read the synopsis, but I am pleasantly surprised. The somewhat gloomy foreword, a scientific journal by the character Dr. Isaac Nuemann himself, presents the subtle eerie tone that resonates throughout the story from start to finish. I'm impressed by the way author Stan Smith brilliantly weaves the modern myths together into the story. The plot is not unfamiliar to me, yet Smith is still able to deliver a multi-layered and unpredictable twist to it, topped with entertaining elements that won’t let your attention go until the end.

My only complaint is I wish there was more to the ending. By no means that it is poor – in fact the ending is brilliantly written, but it definitely makes readers hunger for answers. Overall, this is a novel with modern mysteries galore; Bermuda Triangle, ghost ships, UFOs, and aliens. Any readers that love this kind of material won't want to overlook this excellent work by Stan Smith.
