The Space Between You and Me is a work of fiction in the fantasy, interpersonal drama, and LGBTQ+ romance subgenres. Penned by author Ashley B. Davis, it is intended for the young adult reading audience and can also be enjoyed by adult readers. In this atmospheric, angsty, and accomplished work of storytelling, we find ourselves exploring the world that best friends Apollo and Jonah live in, where their secret bond as Kindred would see them separated if anyone knew how powerfully their magic sparked when they were together. After sharing a kiss sends them both reeling with new confusion and anxieties, Jonah tries to focus on normal life until Apollo turns up in the middle of the night asking for help. The outliers of their magical community are becoming a target for experimentation, and only this pair of Kindred souls dares to uncover the plot.

Author Ashley B. Davis has crafted a superb work of YA fantasy and romance that will keep fans of suspense, clever plot twists, and inventive, immersive magical worlds enraptured from start to finish. As a huge fan of queer romance works, I adored the burgeoning tension between Apollo and Jonah, and I felt that the author’s intimate narrative style brought a lot of the tension, frustration, and angst to the fore in such an exciting way. You’re rooting for these two to get together properly from the minute the sparks fly, and every tense and well-penned moment of the plot keeps clashing them together, ramping up a fantastic sense of anticipation. Overall, The Space Between You and Me is an emotive and atmospherically glorious work that I will definitely be reading again and again.
