The Starlight Club 16: Treasures of the Sea Witch by Joe Corso is a story about Red Fortunato and his club, The Starlight Club 16. This is a story within a story that will capture your imagination and interest from the very first to the very last page. The events take place in the mid-1960s just as the world is coming to grips with the Cold War and Russia is threatening the United States. With everyone’s attention elsewhere, Red Fortunato, Nicky Bell, Santo Trafficante, Marcello, Jimmy the Hat, Carlo Gambino, James Whitney, Eric, Captain Scutari, Aldo Muro, andTony Ragetti are the characters that take the reader on a journey of intrigue, kidnapping, murder, and triumph over evil.

The Starlight Club 16: Treasures of the Sea Witch is one of the best Mafia books I have read. The author has taken a theme that normally shows anyone belonging to a mob or gang in a bad light, and they always get killed or locked up for life. However, Joe Corso has written a most delightful story with great finesse around a good-hearted Mafia boss and a missing Sicilian pirate treasure. The author tells the story in his own unique way by using a supplier of goods to the Starlight Club, Bobby, telling a story to his daughter Lyn about the days when he worked as a butcher before everything changed. The way the story unfolds holds the reader's attention right to the end, which also has a twist in the tail that nobody expects. Joe writes in such a way that you actually find yourself rooting for the shooters! This is an excellent read and well worth a second one. Thank you, I really enjoyed this book.
