In The Tower Below from J.R. Roper’s fantasy series, The Morus Chronicles, fourteen-year-old treasure hunter, Ethan Morus, and guardians of The Light search for another ancient artifact. This is very significant because its powerful secrets were even withheld from senior wizards. Lord Dehric, the leader of the Dark, is desperate to learn the treasure’s knowledge and tries to lure Ethan to do evil. Ethan gets a vision from Lady Aillte containing clues to the artifact so the group journeys to The City of Light. They observe people suddenly shifting to the Dark, including allies. The treasure hunter soon encounters life-threatening obstacles and wonders if he can complete the mission. He also develops doubts about a few of his own group members who display shadowy behavior.

“Expect the unexpected and trust no-one” when reading J.R. Roper’s series, The Morus Chronicles. The Tower Below, Book Three, is an exciting children’s fantasy and science fiction tale. I’ve read the previous books in the series and recommend the same to understand the purpose of treasure hunters and alvars. The characters are uncanny ones, like stone snakes. Destry, Ethan’s feisty little sister, is handy with a slingshot and her sharp retorts are amusing. The novel is an intriguing adventure that never lags behind. It’s easy to catch on with relevant information of past activities. J.R. Roper is a talented author who holds an audience with superb, original storytelling. Teens will not regret reading The Tower Below and the other books in The Morus Chronicles.
