The Tower: Legend of the Heartstone by E. Webb is an absorbing young adult coming-of-age novel. Ena Novak loves to look at The Tower, which is in the center of her hometown, Savrsen. The Tower's origins are still a mystery, but Ena believes it was made by magic. One night, her mother tells her, among other things, that The Tower's doors open only to those who turn sixteen. Ena hates that her vain mother controls every aspect of her life. Thus, on her sixteenth birthday, she decides to enter The Tower, as she feels it is time for her to finally have the freedom to determine her future and choose for herself. She soon learns about the realm of Azendor, the Fallen Realm, and the creatures living in each, and that there is a school for learning magic. Ena also discovers that she possesses unique magical abilities and that no one is safe.

The Tower: Legend of the Heartstone is breathtaking, both in its beauty and mystery. E. Webb has crafted a sweeping and rich tale with depth, charming characters, enchanted objects, gripping adventure, valuable life lessons, suspense, and danger. I loved every moment of it, and I was mesmerized while learning about the realm of Azendor, the source of its magic, and the protagonist's quest to determine her own fate. This book is a delightful addition to the young adult fantasy genre. The fantasy world is built with such deep care that any reader will easily be impressed and fascinated. You'll love this book if you enjoy magical worlds and stories with mythical creatures.
