The Very Best You!, written and illustrated by Kathryn L. Novak, is part of the EZ As 1-2-3 Access Your Child’s Abilities series, and it is one that will encourage and help each reader to appreciate and like the features about him or herself. The story begins with the statement that you are perfect just the way you are and then the pages following elaborate on features that make a person whom he or she is, including fingers and toes, attitude and size. An individual’s personality and dreams are unique to him or her and these help make a person. This book encourages each person to be him or herself and true to self.

Kathryn L. Novak has created another fantastic children’s book with The Very Best You. I, as well as my two children, enjoyed each and every page of this book. The text is short and sweet on each page and made my children giggle while reading it and I heard them repeating a lot of it! The illustrations are very cute to go along with the text and they are a great addition to the book. Not only do they correspond nicely with the text on each page, but they are vibrant and eye-catching. I liked that this book not only focused on physical characteristics, but also focused on dreams, interactions with others/being a good friend, and belonging to a family. My favorite part of the book is how the story ends with reminding the reader to be him or herself as that is the best for each person.
